One of the most important parts of the flower business is the cold chain. For this reason, Ecuanros S.A. has big capacity, modern and powerful coolers, covering 1100 m2.
The coolers are divided into 2 sections: hydration and packing. The first one is dedicated to give a good hydratation to the flowers before they leave the farm for their final destination. The second one is dedicated to the packing process, which will be detailed in the packing section.
Our 140 varieties spend 24 hours in hydratation, which means, coming out of the post-harvest room, it will stay overnight in the hydration room, the next day the flowers will be packed for their final trip. This operation has the main objective of slowing down the flower’s physiological functions and prepares it for a long trip. The temperature in this room is between 3 and 4 degrees Celsius.
All our staff working in the coolers is equipped with thermal boots and clothes, which keep them protected from the cold and allow them to work safely.
